Alice Masterman Biography

Alice is a 24 year old sailor from Guildford, who learnt how to sail at Papercourt SC and Hayling Island.

She took the opi-Feva-29er route where she fell in love with crewing and hasn’t looked back since. Her biggest successes in the 29er are two bronze medals at the Worlds in 2013 and 2014 and three Ladies National Champion titles in her 29er career with former helm Ruth Allan.
In 2014, Alice took a break from sailing to focus on her degree in Politics and Economics at the University of Southampton but still competed in other areas of sailing where she won Cowes Week 2018 in the RS Elite and the K6 Nationals in 2016. In 2017, she made the transition with Vikki Payne to the FX. They competed at a high level internationally and came 37th at their first Europeans in 2017 and then improved on that result to 25th in July 2018. These results gained recognition in the British Sailing Team and she was paired up with Bella Fellows and they have been campaigning ever since.
Outside of her own sailing, Alice has been coaching the RS Feva class and 29er class for 7 years, being head coach of the RYA Welsh Feva squad and 29er Class Development squad. In 2019, she started reading an online masters in Real Estate to compliment her degree with planned graduation in April 2021. Off the water, Alice enjoys being active especially with cycling and netball!
